Today marks my 50th time around the sun ☀️ 🌍, and now that I have warmed up properly, I can tell I feel more drawn to the future than pulled by the past.
The privilege of being part of the crew of this unique Spaceship, called Earth, carries a lot of responsibility. Yes, there are many challenges that humanity faces, from climate change and wars to the boost that Artificial Intelligence is giving to the Natural Stupidity. But there is still so much more to be curious and happy about than to spend days in gloom and anxiety.
Looking back at these last 50 laps, all I see is the light dancing over the waves of memory that my tiny presence has made while crossing paths with all the beautiful people (and dogs) that made me the way I am.
Looking ahead, all I hear is Ithaka,…. the same verses that defined most of this amazing journey;
“Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you’re destined for.
But don’t hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so you’re old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.
Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her, you wouldn’t have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.»
Here in Athens, somewhere along this marvelous journey, not so far from the shores of Ithaka, I raise a toast to all of the sparkling memories from the laps behind me, and looking forward to all the memories to come.
Živili!!!
Thank you! I love you! 4Ever!
