YES, WE DID IT! If back in 2023 anyone had told me, I would say it’s just political propaganda. A wishful thinking made by business as usual.
But today, here in the year 2050 we can finally say that WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOALS. With evidence in hand, we can let the world know that we are CLIMATE NEUTRAL.
👌 Today we have an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. We have achieved 90% GHG emissions reductions, compared to 1990.
👌 We have improved our energy efficiency and reduced our energy consumption. More than 80 % of all our electricity comes from renewable energy sources!!!
👌 While reducing congestion and increasing occupancy rates, our smart cities have enabled better traffic management and automated mobility.
👌 While product demand depends on consumer choices, the production of many industrial goods such as steel, glass, and plastics has become more resource-efficient and less emission-intensive.
👌 Furthermore, the entire transport sector has been transformed through more eco-effective infrastructure and interconnections.
👌 On top of all, we now have effective means to use our scarce land and other natural resources and to ensure that biomass is utilized in the most efficient, sustainable way.
And all this is just a part of the achievements.
However, none of this would ever have been possible without all those wonderful people who back in 2023 came together to make some great sacrifices. Not without all those who back then made a commitment and started acting upon it to make sustainable living the only possible option.
It was hard. Many hard choices had to be made. Many luxuries were gone. But people came together. And today we have strong communities with greater social justice and equality.
All this would not have been possible without all those GREAT PEOPLE who decided to SHARE MORE and buy less, to MOVE MORE and drive less, to MAKE MORE FRIENDS, and to have fewer things. All those who started making TRIPLE WIN CHOICES. All those choices that are good for MYSELF, for the SOCIETY, and the BIOSPHERE.
It is thanks to that 2024 New Year resolution that we can finally say that the future looks bright.
