Our dietary habits are shifting the Earth’s rotational pole. And, here are three lines of investigation to prove it:
👉First, the excessive groundwater pumping has significantly impacted Earth’s rotation. These findings come from a recent study published in Geophysical Research Letters, which revealed that pumping of as much as 2,150 gigatons of groundwater has caused the planet to tilt by nearly 80 centimeters eastward between 1993 and 2010. This shift in the Earth’s rotational pole, primarily due to the redistribution of water mass, is a consequence of human activity and has implications for both sea-level rise and the planet’s overall climate.
👉Second (FAO), Agriculture is the world’s largest user of water, accounting for roughly 70% of global freshwater withdrawals.
👉 Third (Cassidy et al, 2013), livestock production is the single largest anthropogenic use of land, with 75% of all agricultural land (including crop and pasture land) being dedicated to animal production. It is estimated that feeding 9 billion people a Western diet with Western technologies would require almost twice the amount of cropland currently under cultivation. On the other hand, shifting the crop calories used for feed and other uses to direct human consumption could potentially feed an additional approximately. 4 billion people.
Hence, the best way to achieve food security for the growing World population, while at the same time reducing water use and keeping the planet from tilting further, is by shifting our eating habits towards a more plant-based diet.
Personal choices have a significant impact on the climate change, Therefore,
THINK BEFORE YOU EAT!
